Key issues I am  focused on
for public school today:

As you probably know, the school board works with administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to guide the school district toward the most responsible and effective path forward.

The reason that school board positions are elected, not appointed, is to ensure that these policies and decisions are representative of the people who put them into office.  Tax payers, parents, and stakeholders all  have a key voice in this process and who they choose to elect to the school board influences the direction of the entire school district.

I hope that I can help be a conduit to hear the will of the people, the concerns of teachers and school staff, and the priorities of parents. Below you will find the four key issues which I am  especially  passionate about addressing as I seek a seat on the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School Board for the next four years.

Student Safety

Every effort should be made to prioritize campus safety.   Safe hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, playgrounds, lunch rooms, and classrooms are necessary for  students to focus on the task of learning. Consistent disciplinary procedures, proactive school monitors, and empowered administrators can improve safety for all parties involved.

Parental Awareness

I support transparency between teachers and parents for the good of all students and families.  From scholastic performance to school room behavior, parents deserve to be informed about the well-being and success of their students.  Likewise, there should be no surprises when it comes to curriculum content, especially when it comes to sensitive topics.

Teacher Support

Teachers have a difficult job ensuring that no child is left behind and no child is held back.  Equipping teachers with the resources and assistance they need is paramount.  I will leverage the wisdom and experience of our great teachers in the DCJESD to identify how we can serve them even better on the front lines of student education.

Financial Stewardship

Schools are entrusted with tax payer dollars to educate students, operate campuses, and pay personnel.  These funds should be scrutinized to avoid wasteful spending, maximize student success. and retain great teachers and staff.  Anywhere we can better steward our resources and increase priority spending will help us accomplish our mission more effectively.
